How We’ll Give Back at Workday Rising Together

Giving back is woven into the DNA of our culture at Workday, and that extends to our annual Workday Rising conference. Carrie Varoquiers shares how Workday Rising attendees can join us in giving back by participating in the Opportunity Onramps movement, and reveals plans for an endowment from Workday to benefit the people of Las Vegas.

Giving back is woven into the DNA of our culture at Workday, and that extends to our annualWorkday Risingconference. I’d like to share some plans we have for giving back to the Las Vegas community when we all gather there the first week of October, including opportunities for Workday Rising attendees to participate with us.

Here are some ways we’ll be giving back at Workday Rising:

Creating Opportunity Onramps

At Workday, we believe that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. That’s why we createdOpportunity Onramps, a movement dedicated to creating economic opportunity for all. Join us in the Innovation Exchange Expo to learn more about Opportunity Onramps and the programs we have at Workday to help close the opportunity gap. These include ourCareer Accelerator Program (CAP), ourpartnership with Year Up, and our Returnship Program, which we recently launched in partnership withPath Forward, an organization for caregivers and parents who need a jumpstart back into the workforce after putting their careers on pause to take care of others.

Here are some ways you can help us grow the Opportunity Onramps movement:

  • Review and provide feedback on resumes from job seekers working with our workforce development nonprofit partners across the U.S. at the Opportunity Onramps booth. In return, you’ll receive a complimentary professional headshot. We’ll also have tips and information at the booth on things your organization can do to build more onramps to opportunities.
  • Volunteer to conduct a mock interview with a local job seeker or student who will be onsite through the participation of local workforce development programs includingJobs For America’s GraduatesTech Impact. You can sign up for the interview workshop on Thursday, Oct. 4,here(there is a maximum of 120 spots).

We also have a strongsustainability commitmentat the conference, with the local community in mind. As just one example: for the first time, we’ll have a mobile food chiller that we’ll use to transport unused buffet food to local food kitchens serving those in need.

Supporting Las Vegas in its Healing

This year’s Workday Rising coincides with the anniversary of the tragic events that took place in Las Vegas last year.

支持这个伟大城市的疗愈,工作日has committed $1 million to endow a permanent director position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ mental health clinic called The Partnership for Research, Assessment, Counseling, Therapy, and Innovative Clinical Education (The PRACTICE).

The clinic has been providing critical mental health services to many people in Las Vegas following last year’s events. With this endowment, The PRACTICE will be able to further its mission as a teaching, training, and research hub that equips students with the mentoring and supervision to provide Las Vegas residents with free and low-cost mental health services.

Thank you for helping us make a difference in the communities where we work and live.
