At Workday, we’re always considering what we can do to help address the planet’s sustainability challenges. We use 100 percent renewable electricity in the data centers that run our cloud applications, and we’veachieved net-zero carbon emissionsacross our offices and data centers worldwide. As a result, we’re proud to provide all of our global customers with a carbon-neutral cloud.
This year we are bringing the same sustainability commitment globally to Workday Rising. For the first time, we will offset 100 percent of the emissions from travel to and from the conference for all attendees. We’ll achieve this bysupporting sustainable development projectsthrough the purchase of carbon credits: each carbon credit represents the removal or avoidance of one metric ton of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
For each of our two global conferences, we’ll also focus on reducing and eliminating waste. In Las Vegas, we are partnering withTerraCycleto collect and recycle all name tags and lanyards, and have processes in place to reuse, compost, and donate leftover food and conference materials. In Vienna, we’ll collect and recycle all name tags and lanyards, and reuse or donate leftover food and conference materials.
Our Workday Rising host site this year in the U.S., the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, offers one of the most sustainable venues in Las Vegas, from catering to waste management. And it boastsone of the country’s largest onsite rooftop solar arrays, which can provide up to a quarter of the venue’s electricity needs on a peak day.
Globally, we also aim to offer low-impact food choices that are healthy for attendees and the planet. And, as you’ve come to expect with Workday Rising, a community give-back program offered at both conferences will allow you to participate in improving the lives of others.
