At Workday, we're proud to announce the release of our 2019 Global Impact Report, which highlights our commitment to sustainability, giving back, and celebrating diversity.
Innovation and people drive not only our business and product development at Workday, but also our continued work to help create positive change—through concern and care for the planet, the communities where we live and work, and the future of our growing and diverse workforce. Workday was founded on a disruptive idea, and we’ve thrived since our founding because of our commitment to our core values and dedication to creating value for all of our stakeholders. Our customers and our employees see those values in action.
In that spirit, I’m proud to announce the release of our2019 Global Impact Report, which serves as a strong reminder of these commitments and our roots. Below are a few highlights.
We’ve continued to strengthen our commitment to sustainability. To tackle a challenge as significant as climate change, our focus on sustainability is as important as ever. The cornerstone of our sustainability initiative is reducing Workday’s carbon footprint, and we’ve made great strides in doing our part to protect the planet. In addition to operating on100 percent renewable electricity, we’ve pioneered the first-eversmall aggregation clean energy deal. In this one-of-a-kind agreement, Workday has joined corporate partners to purchase a portion of the power generated by a solar farm. Together, we’re adding a significant amount of new clean energy to the grid while providing a blueprint for other smaller buyers to engage in similar clean energy aggregation projects.
With ourphilanthropic investments, we’re providing support to communities where we live and work around the world. Through our grantmaking, we support workforce development organizations that are committing to closing the opportunity gap in communities around the world. Our nonprofit partners serve a range of clients facing barriers to employment and prepare them for thriving-wage careers in the tech industry through technical and soft-skills training programs. In fiscal years 2018 and 2019, we deepened our relationship withYear Up工作日基金会最大的合作伙伴,与more than $1.2 million in grants. We’re proud to support the work of these organizations dedicated to creating economic self-sufficiency through employment.
Our employees have made significant positive impact through theirgiving of time and resources. With more than 37,000 volunteer hours logged in fiscal year 2019 and more than $1.3 million in grants through our donation matching program, we’re incredibly proud of our employees for doing their part todo good. Employees have volunteered their time in many different ways, like teaching hands-on tech workshops to underserved populations and serving as mentors to job seekers to cleaning up community parks and fundraising for life-saving medical research.
At Workday, we believe that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not, so we’ve doubled down on our investment in ourOpportunity Onramps™program. A movement dedicated to creating career pathways that unleash human potential, Opportunity Onramps provides training, internships, and job opportunities for nontraditional candidates from diverse backgrounds. At its heart is a call to action for employers tolook beyond pedigreewhen developing their talent strategies in order to reap the benefits of a workforce with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.
We’ve continued to grow Belonging & Diversity at Workday, grounded in a broaderstrategy we call VIBE™.We value inclusion, belonging, and equity for all, and our approach to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace is rooted in the belief that everyone is different, and those differences should be embraced and celebrated. We’ve taken action toembed equal pay effortsinto our company-wide equity initiatives.
We’re honored to be recognized for our employee-first culture. Because of our employees, Workday has been ranked No. 4 on Fortune’s100 Best Companies to Work For list. The recognition by Fortune and Great Place to Work follows other honors, such as being No. 1 on Fortune’sFuture 50list andNo. 1 Best Place to Work in Irelandfor largest companies by Great Place to Work. We’re thrilled that our commitment to being a great place to work for all has been recognized in these surveys, and we have our Workmates (our name for our coworkers) to thank for all their contributions to making Workday the company that it is.
