Leading the Pack in Vendor Management System Capabilities

Everest Group’s report categorized 21 vendor management system (VMS) technology vendors based on its proprietary PEAK Matrix®framework, which evaluates providers’ capabilities across two critical dimensions—market impact and vision and capability. After being named a Leader in the 2021 assessment, VNDLY returned to the top category this year alongside four other companies. Of the remaining vendors, 13 were assigned to the Major Contenders designation and four were named Aspirants.

VNDLY’s Leader placement was driven by strong performances in both assessment categories.

Market Impact

Market impact was evaluated based on three markers: market adoption, portfolio mix, and value delivered. VNDLY received a high score in the category, with Everest Group specifically calling out:

  • Double-digit growth in spend under management (SUM) and new clients in 2021.
  • Improved geographic diversification, particularly in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
  • Client portfolio advancement across a number of industries, including government and public sector as well as professional services.

Vision and Capabilities

The vision and capabilities category considered each vendor’s ability to deliver products successfully, based on five key subdimensions: vision and strategy; core technology capability; emerging/differentiating capability; implementation, UI/UX, and support; and engagement and commercial model. In this area, Everest Group scored VNDLY even higher, emphasizing our:

  • Strengthened provisioning capabilities, created by deepening integrations with Workday and other suites.
  • Major improvements in payment and billing functionalities.
  • New integrations with third-party direct sourcing platforms.

Standing Out as a Star Performer

For the first time, Everest Group additionally identified Star Performers—a category that recognizes improvement on the PEAK Matrix®over time. VNDLY was one of six vendors chosen for this category.

“VNDLY continues to build a strong reputation and a niche for itself in the increasingly competitive VMS market.”
